by Ana Baričević

On January 24, 2024, the ReWire research group organised a workshop entitled ‘Cementitious composites reinforced with waste fibres’.

The workshop brought together 4 speakers who presented the possibilities and impact of fibres from different perspectives. The first speaker was Marijana Pavunc from the Faculty of Textile Technology with a presentation titled ‘The mystery of fibres’. Afterwards, PhD student Branka Mrdljuš presented her dissertation topic together with an overview of the literature and research methodology with the lecture „Alkali resistance of waste fibres“. Assist. Prof. Nikola Tošić gave an overview of the research on the influence of fibres by presenting case studies from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia with a presentation entitled „Synthetic fibre reinforced concrete: recycling and specific mechanical properties – case studies from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia“. The last presentation was given by PhD student Katarina Didulica and was entitled „Volume deformation: understanding the effects of RTPF on the microstructure“, in which the topic of the PhD thesis and the possibilities of using RTPF fibres were presented.
